Alexandra EXTER (1882-1949).

Ladies with a Dog. 1910. Oil on canvas. 63 by 60 cm. National Art Museum of Ukraine (NAMU), Kyiv.

I defined the Exter's authorship to this work due to the address indicated on the back: Fundukleevska vul., 27. This was the address where Exter dwelled in Kyiv. Images of the tree women painted in a primitive manner resemble the “three amazons” of Ukrainian avantgarde: Exter herself in the well-known broad-brim, Natalia Davydova, and Eugenia Prybylska. The dog on the hands of Davydova is also a kind of famous. It was depicted by David Burliuk in his poem A.A. Exter and her Dog.
